Google for Startups Accelerator Africa reveals its 8th cohort featuring ten dynamic startups from Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Africa, focusing on AI and tech solutions. Discover the impactful projects set to transform the African tech scene.

Google has unveiled the 8th cohort of its prestigious Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program, showcasing ten groundbreaking startups from across Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Africa. These startups were chosen from nearly 1,000 applications, underscoring their innovative solutions and significant potential.

Since its launch in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program has been a catalyst for tech innovation on the continent. To date, it has supported 106 startups from 17 African countries, collectively raising over $263 million and generating more than 2,800 direct jobs. This remarkable track record highlights the program’s profound impact on Africa’s technological landscape.

The current cohort emphasizes artificial intelligence, reflecting the growing role of advanced technologies in addressing Africa’s critical challenges. “We are thrilled to welcome the 8th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startups Programs for Google in Africa. “These startups embody the future of African innovation, leveraging technology to solve real-world issues and enhance their communities.   • Fixxr (South Africa)
    Offering on-location vehicle maintenance and repair services for car owners and businesses.
  • Lifesten Health (Rwanda)
    Advancing health and wellness with innovative screening and incentive-based programs focused on comprehensive health.
  • MyAIFactchecker (Nigeria)
    Providing an AI-powered tool to tackle misinformation and support informed decision-making.
  • Nakili (Kenya)
    Modernizing salon, barbershop, and spa management with a mobile app that enhances customer experience.
  • NextCounsel (Nigeria)
    Enhancing lawyer productivity with an AI-powered tool for contract management and compliance.
  • Nobuk Africa (Kenya)
    Simplifying group financial management with a platform for fund collection, payment reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Rana Energy (Nigeria)

From July 29th to September 20th, 2024, these startups will participate in an intensive program designed to accelerate their growth. They will benefit from direct mentorship from Google experts and seasoned entrepreneurs, engage in technical workshops to refine their products and strategies, and prepare to secure follow-on funding from Google’s extensive network of investors.
