Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) announces the 7th National Science and Technology Exhibition 2024, focusing on sustainability and climate change solutions. Learn about the event’s impact on STEM education and innovation.

Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) has launched its highly anticipated 7th edition of the National Science and Technology Annual Exhibition, scheduled from August 19th to 23rd, 2024. This year, YSK received a record 1,780 project abstracts, marking a 138% increase from last year. The theme for this year’s exhibition is “Developing Sustainable Solutions for Climate Change.”

Ben Roberts, Chairman of the YSK committee and Group Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, highlighted the exhibition’s role in inspiring students towards STEM pathways and showcasing innovations that address global challenges. YSK has significantly impacted over 250,000 students and fostered more than 600 STEM networks since its inception.

Dr. Eng. Victor Mwongera, National Director of Young Scientists Kenya, emphasized the educational benefits of STEM education, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills among students. He reiterated YSK’s commitment to empowering young innovators and bridging the gap between scientific research and practical applications.

Visiting Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence, Micheál Martin, praised YSK’s initiative, comparing it to Ireland’s BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. Martin applauded the exhibition’s role in nurturing future leaders and driving economic growth through scientific inquiry and entrepreneurship.

The YSK exhibition aims not only to showcase scientific talent but also to cultivate a culture of innovation and sustainability among Kenya’s youth, aligning with global efforts for educational excellence and sustainable development.
