Discover how Sistema.bio is revolutionizing energy and agriculture in Africa with innovative biodigester technology. Learn about their partnerships, projects, and impact across the continent.
Sistema.bio, Africa’s premier biodigester company, is making remarkable strides in transforming energy solutions across West and Southern Africa. With a mission focused on tackling energy issues, advancing environmental sustainability, and ensuring access to clean and affordable cooking solutions, Sistema.bio has emerged as the continent’s largest biodigester enterprise.
In a strategic move to amplify its impact, Sistema.bio has entered into a significant partnership with Engie Access, an off-grid energy services provider. This collaboration has led to the introduction of cutting-edge biogas digesters in Zambia and Mozambique. Backed by the Modern Clean Cooking Facility for Africa (MCFA), this initiative aims to benefit over 10,000 small-holder farmers across these two nations.
Further expanding its reach, Sistema.bio is making headway in Zimbabwe through a collaboration with Lanforce Energy, an experienced implementation partner. The goal of this partnership is to install more than 2,500 biodigesters in Zimbabwe over the next four years. This project highlights Sistema.bio’s dedication to overcoming the energy challenges prevalent in African communities while also promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
In West Africa, Sistema.bio is forging ahead with new partnerships, including one with Farmerline in Ghana and another with SNV Netherlands Development Organisation in Nigeria. A notable milestone was achieved in July 2024, with the successful installation of the first biodigesters in Nigeria. This accomplishment marks a significant step forward in the company’s mission to foster sustainable agriculture and renewable energy in the region.
Madrin Maina, Sistema.bio’s Director in Africa, emphasized the transformative potential of the company’s biodigester technology. “Sistema.bio’s biodigester technology represents a rapidly scalable, locally adapted solution that has the capacity to empower millions across African communities,” Maina stated.
The advantages of biodigester technology align with nine of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Gender Equality, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Climate Action, and Life On-Land.
Sistema.bio’s extensive expansion throughout West and Southern Africa underscores its commitment to driving sustainable development and addressing the pressing energy and agricultural challenges faced by many communities. Through strategic partnerships with leading green energy organizations, Sistema.bio is set to continue its growth and significantly impact Africa’s sustainable future.
